Located in an isolated plot of industrial land with a direct interface across the road to low density residential, this data centre has a focus to be a respectful neighbour.
Designed with rich and rigorous neighbourhood consultation, the main street façade embraces a horizontal language, highlighted with deep coloured bands of differing heights. Façade recesses provide light and shadow which visually reduce the bulk and scale of the building.
The exterior colour palette seeks to reinforce the colours of this unique site and means that the building sections subtly recede, pulling the bush surrounds and skyline into sharp focus.
Extensive roof top planting to the top of the administration building, a mid-level garden bed to the western end of the façade and extensive planting setback to the main facade create a building in a richly landscaped setting. All noise generating plant was located at the rear of the property to minimise sound.
This essential service successfully sits nestled in a low-density area in harmony with its neighbours and surrounds.
